2024

Allouez Ave
Hazen Road to USH 141 (Main St.)

UPDATE: Thursday, June 20, 2024

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region (WisDOT) is announcing that work will begin on Allouez Avenue, from Hazen Road to USH 141 (Main Street) in the Village of Bellevue. The roadway will be closed over the next few months to replace the pavement and add sidewalk throughout the project. The project will consist of grading, storm sewer, pavement replacement, concrete pavement bridge approaches, curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement markings, signing, and new pedestrian crossing.

CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE
May 20, 2024 - August 9, 2024

Week of 06/17/2024
Vinton completed most of the major slope and roadway grading on the west half of the project and has shifted operations to the east half of the project grading roadway from the I-43 bridge working east. The north slope of the west half of the project was restored Wednesday with rain in the evening to promote quick growth. The sidewalk and curb replacements at the Hazen Road and Allouez Ave intersection are complete on the east half of the intersection. The southwest corner will be completed early next week, followed by the northeast corner to maintain pedestrian access. All utility adjustments were complete this week allowing the contractor to proceed without conflict. The installation of the 60-inch concrete culvert and realignment work of the stream channel were postponed this week due to the unstable weather patterns because the operations will require bypass pumping of the stream.

Week of 06/24/2024
Grading will continue working east from Little Creek Ln to the east project limit. Work on the 60-inch concrete culvert and stream channel realignment is expected to start Monday, 6/24 and last 2-3 days. Start of this work is dependent on a stretch of days with little or no chance of rain in the forecast. Concrete sidewalk will continue at the southwest and then northeast corners of the Hazen Road and Allouez Ave intersection. Martell will also work on sidewalk from Hazen Road to the I-43 bridge along the north side of Allouez Ave. This will be followed by curb and gutter.

Traffic Impacts
Allouez Avenue will be closed to through traffic with access for local traffic only. The posted detour route utilizes Lime Kiln Road, Verlin Road, and USH 141 (Main St).

There will be no through access on the project due to the grade differential at the I-43 bridge at times. Residents must access areas west of the bridge from Hazen Road and east of the bridge from USH 141 (Main Street).
