Overview
The Village of Bellevue is pursuing much needed safety improvements to the intersection of Landmark Blvd and Costco Way. Over the last 15 months, the Village has seen an unacceptable number of crashes that have the potential to severely harm vehicle users, area infrastructure and private property. In 2025 the Village Board authorized staff to pursue an intersection improvement that will reduce turning movements and therefor significantly reduce traffic collisions.

Location & Site Details
Intersection of Landmark Boulevard and Costco Way
Located north of the STH 172 and CTH GV/Monroe Road Interchange

Intersection Characteristics:
Primary Road: Landmark Boulevard has preference over Costco Way
Secondary Road: Costco Way stops to Landmark Boulevard and has the primary entrance and egress points for businesses.

Area has a business focus with Costco Way dead ending to the south and extending past several businesses to the north

Safety Issues
This intersection as currently designed has 32 conflict points. The increased daily traffic loads have exacerbated these conflict points. The left turn movement from Landmark Blvd to Costco Way (north) has a tendency to back up and impact the adjacent roundabout.
Traffic Issues Statistics
The intersection has experienced 31 reported traffic collisions of varying severity. Primary cause of collisions include drivers attempting to cross the intersection in its entirety or vehicles that are turning left onto Costco Way heading northbound.
2022 2023 2024 2025 2026 Total
3         9         9        10         0         31
Improvement
As proposed, the intersection will see a temporary closure of the Landmark Blvd median that will prohibit traffic flowing from across Landmark or making a left turn in either direction onto Costco Way. This traffic consideration will significantly reduce the potential conflict points by 87% (from 32 to 4 conflict points)
