Brown County Fire Departments are instituting Burn Bans effective immediately and until further notice. The area is experiencing abnormally dry conditions; the fire danger is "very high." Area fire departments have sustained a number of "wildland" type fires as of this date. The departments will not be issuing any burn permits until the conditions improve. The burn permits that have already been issued are no longer valid. Permits will be re-issued when it is safe to resume permitted burning. Charcoal and gas grills can be used if utilized correctly and on a flat surface.
Any reports of burning of any kind during this time will result in the fire being extinguished by Fire Department personnel with possible monetary charges for service and/or fines.
Effective 12:00 PM Friday April 17, 2015, Brown County will be under emergency burning restrictions. The restrictions include:
These restrictions are in place for all of Brown County including all incorporated towns, cities, and villages. The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice. We will need multiple, significant rain events in order to lower the existing fire danger.
The intent of the restrictions is to raise overall awareness of the fire danger and to limit the number of ignition sources.
