As part of a commitment to provide a healthy and aesthetic urban forest in our community, the Village of Bellevue adopted an Urban Forestry Plan in October of 2001. The key components are:
Street Trees for New Developments
If you moved into a new home in Bellevue, it is likely that your home is part of the Urban Forestry Plan. Once a subdivision is 70% complete the Village of Bellevue will begin planting street trees in the right-of-way in front of your home. The cost of the tree and planting is paid for through the developer. The number and type of trees on a lot shall be determined by the Leisure Services Department.
Street Trees for Current Residents
The Village of Bellevue offers homeowners the opportunity to purchase a tree(s) through the Leisure Services Department; often a significantly lower cost than purchasing and having a tree planted on your own. Trees may only be planted in the Village right-of-way. Homeowners are given a variety of trees to choose from and are allowed to provide input on their location.
If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact the Leisure Services Department at (920) 468-5225 to have your name put on a planting list so that we may contact you before our next planting. Plantings are typically completed each fall.
