Economic Development DivisionThe Village of Bellevue continues to be one of the fastest growing communities in Brown County and the State of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Department of Administration estimated the population of Bellevue in 2007 to be 14,835. That is up from the 2000 US Census of 11,828. This ranks Bellevue as the 6th largest community in Brown County and the 53rd largest community in the State of Wisconsin. The Village is part of Brown County in northeast Wisconsin, which is the third fastest growing county in the state. The Village is serviced by four major highways, and is within a fifteen minute drive of Austin Straubel International Airport and the Port of Green Bay. Transportation: Highways: Highways: Four major highways run through the interior of the Village. Interstate 43 bisects Bellevue as it runs from northern Green Bay to it's southern terminus at the Illinois border. State Highway 172 runs from it's eastern terminus at Interstate 43 in the center of the Bellevue to its western terminus near Austin Straubel International airport. Highway 141 runs into Bellevue where it meets interstate 43 and then continues north to Interstate 41 and up to the Michigan state line. Highway 29 also runs through the Village as it travels from the western edge of Wisconsin to it's eastern terminus at Highway 42 in downtown Kewaunee, on the Lake Michigan lakeshore. 2006 Traffic Counts for Village of Bellevue Airports: Austin Straubel International Airport is the third largest airport in Wisconsin providing service 365 days a year 24 hours a day for Bellevue and northeastern Wisconsin. Austin Straubel is located just off of State Highway 172 in Oneida ten minutes travel time from Bellevue, and is capable of handling carrier and cargo jet traffic. Port: The Port of Green Bay provides modern, state of the art facilities for safe navigation and economic cargo handling. The Green Bay port is the westernmost port on Lake Michigan providing direct route shipment between the Midwest and the rest of the world. Rail: The railroad that runs through Bellevue is principally operated by Canadian National. The rail runs along highway 141/29 before heading out of the Village. |
